Pastor George D. Martin, Jr. accepted his calling into ministry in his senior year of his undergraduate studies. His love for God drove him to constantly strive for excellence in Christ, while helping others be all they can be. Pastor Martin’s desire to see young boys be successful prompted him to start an urban ministry for young men 5 –19 years designed to give them something God-centered and positive to be a part of as an alternative to street gangs, while still a student at Anderson University. In 1999 God gave him a vision for the establishment of The Sanctuary Church (TSC) in the Indianapolis area.
In March of 2002, Pastor Martin along with five charter members, founded TSC with the mission of Many Nations, One Body, In Christ. In 2007, under Pastor Martin's leadership, God blessed TSC once again when lead by Pastor and First Lady Martin the members of TSC walked into the ministry's current facility located on the westside of downtown Indianapolis. TSC has grown from five to more than 300 members.
Enhancing spiritual growth through practical teachings from the word of God, Pastor Martin continues to work diligently to build a church that welcomes people from various walks of life, and that focuses its' efforts on evangelism and outreach to impact it's neighborhood, city, state, nation and world for Christ.
Pastor Martin holds a Bachelor’s degree from Anderson University, and is currently earning a Master of Arts degree from Wesley Seminary. He is an avid student of the Word of God, an author and entrepreneur. He is happily married to his "sweetheart" the beautiful and loving Toyin M. Martin and is a committed father to his two sons Jeremiah and George III and two daughters Tylin and Tyah.
