In January 2002, Rev. George D. Martin Jr. called together six individuals to share the vision that God had given him.      That evening, TSC was established as "The Sanctuary Christian Church" with five charter members. The children of  these five members later became members themselves. The first official worship service was held in a conference  room at the Holiday Inn East hotel on March 3, 2002. The Wednesday night Bible Studies were held in the home of  Pastor Martin. Shortly thereafter, due to scheduling conflicts, TSC moved its' worship services to the Courtyard Marriott located on the  downtown canal. Services were held at this location throughout the summer of 2002. By the end of that summer, TSC  worship services had moved once again. This time, services were relocated to the Bethel Town-homes Community  Center. The move allowed TSC to conduct their Wednesday night Bible Studies within the center. On January 2003, TSC  moved its' worship services to a lecture hall in Arlington High school. During this time, TSC was using Berean Bible  Church as the location to baptize new believers.

After the first year the name was changed to The Sanctuary Church. On November 2003, TSC purchased it's first  building located at 2301 Brookside Avenue. While, worshiping at this location, TSC reached the 100 membership mark  and several ministries were being established. By the end of 2006, the 2301 Brookside location was no longer suitable  for the needs of TSC as a young growing ministry.  Therefore, a process began in order to identify a new location. In  September 2007, prayers for a new location were answered and 955 Oliver Avenue became the worshiping site. The  building was purchased on a Friday October 5, 2007. Renovation and preparation work had to be made on the building  prior to holding worship services and on November 3, 2007 TSC held its' first worship service in the building at 955  Oliver Ave.TSC has always been a giving church that focuses on the whole person, spiritually, physically and mentally.  Therefore in 2008, under Pastor Martin's leadership TSC established The Sanctuary Outreach, Incorporated as it  nonprofit community organizations to further serve youth by providing leadership and development programs as well  as community members in need of basic services. As ministry at TSC begin to develop further, TSC again needed  greater facilities for ministry needs and in 2013 began to pray and search for a suitable location. On February of 2014,  God blessed TSC with a 30,000 square foot facility at 3400 N. Post Road. TSC has grown from five to more than 300  members. Many lives have been transformed at TSC and even greater is expected.
