Statement of Faith
The Bible
We believe that the Bible is completely the Word of God, written by men who were divinely inspired by God Himself [2 Timothy 3:16] and is a perfect and complete record of God's person and plan of redemption. As such, it is not subject to man's opinions, whether he should be pleased to add what he feels is lacking or to delete what he feels is offensive or to correct what he feels is in error [2 Peter 1:20-21]. We believe that all matters of faith and conduct must be evaluated on the basis of the Bible, which is our infallible guide (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
God
We believe in God as He has revealed Himself as the one Triune God in the Holy Scriptures. God has manifested Himself as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit; all three are of one, undivided, eternal essence, distinguished only in their offices.
God the Father
We believe that God the Father is the eternal, uncreated creator of the universe. In all of His attributes He is perfect and unchanging, affected by nothing that would decrease His perfections and needing nothing to increase His perfections [Genesis 1:1; Psalm 124:8; Isaiah 46:5; Malachi 3:6].
God the Son
We believe in Jesus Christ as the eternal Son of God [John 1:1; Romans 1:4; Colossians 1:17] who was God in human flesh [Philippians 2:5-8]. In His incarnation, He was conceived by the Holy Spirit [Luke 1:35] and was born of the virgin Mary [Luke 1:27, 34]. In His earthly life, He perfectly revealed the character of God [John 1:18; 2 Corinthians 4:4; Philippians 2:6; Hebrews 1:3] and perfectly did the will of God, fulfilling all the Law of Moses [Matthew 5:17; John 5:19; 6:38; 8:29].
God the Holy Spirit
We believe that God the Holy Spirit — also called the Spirit of Truth [John 14:17; 15:26], the Comforter or Helper [John 14:26], the Spirit of God and the Spirit of Christ [Romans 8:9] — is the manifestation of God that indwells all truly born-again believers [Romans 8:9].
Man Without Christ
We believe that man was created in the image of God and is the crowning work of His creation [Psalm 8:3-8]. Adam, the father of the human race, willfully disobeyed God, was banished from the presence of God, and, as a result, sin entered into the world through Him [Romans 5:12]. As such, man is completely bent towards evil and in this state is totally unable to choose to perform any works of righteousness before God; his only hope of salvation lies in the grace of the saving work of God in Christ Jesus.
Baptism
We believe that baptism was ordained by Christ to be administered only to those who have come to a saving knowledge of God through Jesus Christ [Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38]. It is an act of obedience in which the believer publicly identifies himself with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection [Romans 6:1-11].
The Lord's Supper
We believe that Christ ordained the Last Supper as a continual memorial to the New Covenant established by His death [Luke 22:20] and is to be observed until He returns [Matthew 26:29; Mark 14:25]. The nature and significance of the Supper call for all believers to partake only after they have examined their hearts and lives to confessed personally and privately sin before God. [1 Corinthians 11:17-34].
Christ's Return
We believe that as sure as God brought the created order into being, He will also bring it to a close at a time that only He knows [Matthew 24:36; 1 Thessalonians 5:2; 2 Peter 3:10]. The close of this age will involve nothing less than the immanent, visible coming of Christ in His glory [Matthew 24:27, 30; Revelation 1:7], the destruction of the old order, the final judgment of the living and the dead [Matthew 25:31-46; Revelation 20:11-15] and the establishment of the New Heavens and the New Earth [2 Peter 3:10-13; Revelation 21:1-8]. Our attitude toward Christ’s second coming is to be alert [Matthew 24:42; 25:13], to conduct ourselves in holiness and godliness [2 Peter 3:11, 14], and to comfort one another [1 Thessalonians 4:18].
Marriage
We believe that the institution of marriage was create by God and is defined by Him to be between one man and one woman according to the Holy Scriptures of the Holy Bible. We define marriage as the exclusive, comprehensive, and “one flesh” union of one man and one woman. Furthermore, this definition of the sacred institution of marriage shall not be changed or amended by any person or persons, institution or organization. (Genesis 2:22-24; Genesis 3:20-21; Genesis 5:2; 1 Corinthians 7:2; Ephesians 5:23-25)
Human Sexuality
Sexual Immorality
We Believe that sexual acts outside of marriage are prohibited as sinful, and consequently, mankind must resist and refrain from all sexual acts outside of marriage. (Exodus 20:14; Leviticus 18:7-23; 20:10-21; Deuteronomy 5:18; Matthew 5:27-28; 15:19; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-13; Galatians 5:19-21; 1 Thessalonians 4:3; Hebrews 13:4)
Sexual Identity
We Believe that God created mankind in His image: male (man) and female (woman), sexually different but with equal personal dignity. Consequently, mankind must refrain from physically changing or altering their predominant biological sex. (Genesis 1:26-28; 1 Corinthians 6:9-13)
